Our Story

 

After completing a degree in chemistry, neuroscience, and psychology- Emma Brown, President of Forage and Cultivate, decided to join the realm of applied sciences and open her own gourmet and medicinal mushroom cultivation company in 2021. Starting in a 10’x20’ room in her garage, the company upscaled into a built-out pole barn in June 2023.

“Crafted for Consciousness,” the slogan of Forage & Cultivate designates the company’s diligence in providing gourmet and medicinal mushrooms grown from toxin-free substrate.

As large scale mushroom manufacturers’ rely on agricultural waste, heavily laden with dangerous herbicides, fungicides, and pesticides, its about time a mushroom company came along which focuses on generating the tastiest of mushrooms from the safest of medium. All the substrate involved in Forage & Cultivate’s mushroom production is organic including but not limited too; organic alfalfa pellets, organic gypsum, organic wheat bran, and all-natural house-cured wood chips harvested from nearby woods and/or 100% oak pellets with no additives. All water used in production is first put through reverse osmosis to ensure minimal halogen concentration interacts with the growing species.

As many mushrooms are known to be “radical scavengers” let’s ensure the mushrooms we put in our gut have not first absorbed high concentrations of toxins from their growing environment.
